Windows 10If you’re a PC user interested in upgrading to Windows 10 and have yet to receive your invite, disregard scam emails.

Security experts from Cisco penned a blog post about a scam campaign going around in emails that include information about a Windows 10 upgrade from an account impersonating Microsoft.

However, the email attachment includes a .zip file that is ransomware and will lock your computer if downloaded. Here’s a video showing how the threat looks, and here’s what the email looks like:

Released last week, Windows 10 is available as a free upgrade to Windows 7 and Windows 8 users for the next year. Consumerist points out that Microsoft is sending upgrade notifications through a user’s desktop, not with emails, so any email with Windows 10 upgrade information should probably be ignored.
