Uber cars are commonplace on Seattle streets, with the company helping to transport thousands of folks each day from point A to point B.
But select Uber riders in Seattle are getting a real experience — thanks to a promotion that the company is running in conjunction with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, which is releasing a new Mad Max video game on Sept. 1.
Over the past four days, Uber riders have been able to request a ride in a banged-up, post apocalyptic ride from the movie.
“Buckle up, hunker down, and prepare to live life as a Wasteland Warrior,” notes an Uber press release touting the promotion.
I spotted one of the vehicles on 1st Avenue South yesterday, just before the Sounders-Timbers match. The sighting certainly got the soccer fans in the pub talking, and folks who score a ride seem to be enjoying the experience as well.

Dude just yelled “Witness me!” as he hopped into his not-at-all dissonant Mad Max Uber at PAX. #brands pic.twitter.com/Z6oMYWzRTh — Evan Lahti (@ELahti) August 30, 2015
Uber is a master at promotions of this kind, delivering everything from ice cream to kittens.
If you want to roll in Mad Max style, you better hurry. The promotion concludes today at 6 p.m., and is only available for rides in downtown Seattle.
“The Wasteland is vast and gas is precious—the Warboys must remain near their Stronghold,” Uber says in its release, noting the reasons for the geographic limitations.
