Nimoy died this morning at his home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles, as a result of end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

He was forever linked to the iconic half-Vulcan character after first donning Spock’s pointy ears and blue tunic in the original “Star Trek” series, and going on to reprise the role across movies and an animated series. In addition to his work on “Trek,” Nimoy held a number of other interests, including a love for photography and poetry.
