What started as an email list to discover and share news about products is becoming quite the influencer in launch land.

Product Hunt just hit 1 million upvotes, 50 percent of which come from outside the States. “Since starting Product Hunt as a simple email list in late 2013, we’ve grown from a small group of friends to a worldwide community of product enthusiasts,” the company writes in a blog post on Medium. “We’ve seen products launch on Product Hunt from massive companies like Facebook to independent makers across the globe.”

To help celebrate the news, they’ve posted a lit of the top 50 performing products on their site. You will recognize latest newsmakers Meerkat (No. 17) and Periscope (No. 3) made the list, but also more frivolous companies like Ship Your Enemies Glitter (No. 14).

It seems Product Hunt is not only a useful tool to help get your name out, it’s becoming essential. And with major backers like Google Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz, its influence only looks to grow.
