zirx312Zirx is off to a fast start in Seattle.

The on-demand valet service, which operates in four cities, said today that Seattle is its fastest-growing market just four months after launching in the Emerald City.

Zirx hires vetted agents who respond to drivers that have requested a pick-up via the company’s smartphone app. Within seven minutes, that agent shows up and moves the car to a secure parking facility. When the customer needs his or her car back, they can tell Zirx where they are and the agent will bring the vehicle back.

Zirx charges an all-day parking fare of $15, which, considering the convenience, is a reasonable deal compared to existing option in Seattle.

In September, Zirx only offered service in South Lake Union. But since then, it expanded to Belltown, downtown, and the area around the Space Needle. This week, it began operating in Capitol Hill.

“Parking is a pretty acute problem in Seattle,” Zirx CEO Sean Behr told GeekWire. “On average, Seattle has the sixth highest cost of parking in North America. The city continues to grow and develop as well.”

The company, which has raised $6.4 million, has also added gas and car wash options in its app, in addition to electric charging, oil changes, or overnight parking. There’s also now a “scheduled return” feature, which lets users set a specific time to have their car returned at an exact location.

Zirx pays parking garage operators to rent space it needs to store vehicles. In case of an accident, Zirx has a $2 million comprehensive insurance policy for the vehicle itself and the agent, who is screened for driving records and background checks.

Behr noted that compared to San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C., adoption of Zirx’s Android app is three times as popular than in other cities.

“I think it’s driven by the ecosystem in Seattle being less Apple dependent,” Behr said.

The service is operating in Seattle from 6:30 a.m. to midnight on Monday through Wednesday; from 6:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Thursday and Friday; and 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
