boeing buildingBoeing announced on Monday it has acquired Peters Software, a 20-person German company that builds applications to train commercial and private pilots in Europe.

Peters Software’s 20 employees will now join Boeing’s global training network, which trains about 1,200 flight, maintenance and cabin safety personnel daily at 17 campuses on six continents.

But the company says it’s going to need to keep building out that network, as more planes hit the skies and an estimated 558,000 new pilots will be needed over the next 20 years to fly them.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“The high-quality software that Peters Software develops enhances Boeing’s customized pilot training content to meet specific needs of our customers,” Stan Deal, Boeing senior vice president of commercial aviation services, said in a press release.
