amazon diapers1Amazon’s move into private-label products hit a snag this morning with the news that the company will stop selling its “Amazon Elements” diapers.

“Based on early customer feedback, we are making some design improvements to the diaper,” the company says in an email to customers, as quoted by GigaOm. “In the meantime, Amazon Elements Soft & Cozy Diapers are no longer available, and we’ve stopped your subscription.”

When Amazon cites the need for “design improvements,” every parent thinks “blowout,” but the product page with customer reviews is no longer online, so the exact nature of the design problem is unclear. GeekWire’s Tricia Duryee reviewed the diapers in December and reported a positive initial experience.

The company is still offering its own private-label baby wipes under the Amazon Elements brand. It’s giving people who subscribed to the diapers a $25 promotional credit, and promising to let them test the redesigned diapers once they’re available.
