Amazon launched its

Amazon expanded its Prime Now one-hour delivery service to select zip codes in Baltimore and Miami today, moving beyond its initial rollout in New York City and hinting at its ambitions for a broader national rollout.

The service, available to Amazon Prime members, offers one-hour delivery for $7.99 and two-hour delivery for free. The service was launched initially in Manhattan and has since been rolled out in Brooklyn.

Amazon says the service will continue rolling out in additional cities this year.

“Since launching, we’ve seen high demand on everything from essentials like water and paper towels to more surprising deliveries like getting a customer a hard-to-find, top-selling toy in 23 minutes–we are excited to continue delivering to customers in record-breaking time,” said Dave Clark, Amazon’s senior vice president of worldwide operations, in a news release announcing the expansion.

Prime Now is available from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. It’s part of an ongoing effort by the company to boost Amazon Prime benefits and cover the “last mile” of delivery, an initiative that also includes the Amazon Fresh grocery delivery service, which started in Seattle before rolling out to other cities across the country.
