This year GeekWire, in conjunction with Bank of America, is raising money for the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship. It’s a scholarship that helps deserving students study STEM subjects in college. More than half the students are women and minorities. Here’s the great part of our program. Every dollar you give (up to $125,000) will be matched by Seattle angel investor and super geek Gary Rubens. Then the state of Washington matches that donation. So $1.00 donated turns into $4.00 or in our case $125K equals $500K. Thanks to generous donations from Microsoft to handle the administration of WSOS, 100 percent of your donation goes to student scholarships. So great.
