Two companies that were spun out of Startup Weekend in Spokane have decided to ally, creating a one-stop shop for those who want to buy, barter or donate old clothes, as well as organize personal wardrobes. As part of the deal, Barters Closet is taking over Dresser App, an iOS application that is still in development.

“Dresser App was originally intended as a tool to keep your clothing organized. We see a benefit in making it social so that people can suggest outfits to one another and see what other people have in their closet.” said Barter’s Closet founder and CEO Connor Simpson. The app will be renamed Barter’s Closet Dresser.

We featured Barters Closet and its 21-year-old founder Simpson — a self-described sweater addict — in our Startup Spotlight feature last year. Simpson served as an advisor to Dresser App — and its creators Tim Aton, Malachi Riedl, Max Delsid and Chris Mirabzadeh— at the most recent Startup Weekend event. The team will continue to work on the app, which is set to be released in June.

“It’s exciting when your startup is acquired by a company in your industry. I’m looking forward to working with Barters Closet to build the best way to barter and organize your clothes,“ said Aton.

Barters Closet raised $150,000 last year. Its backers include the Spokane Angel Alliance and Tom Simpson, the Spokane angel investor and father of CEO Connor Simpson.

“This further highlights the effectiveness of the Spokane ecosystem catering to emerging companies,” said Tom Simpson.
