What would your business idea look like if you sketched it out on a cocktail napkin? Now, imagine that napkin on a 6-foot by 6-foot canvas?

That was the challenge we set out in front of The Seattle 10 — 10 up-and-coming Seattle area startup companies that will be recognized at tonight’s sold-out GeekWire Gala. We already announced the 10 companies, but we’ve yet to see any of their amazing creations.

That is, until now. Take a look at this awesome time-lapse video of Seattle startup Grayl’s cocktail napkin, one of the 10 that will be displayed at the Museum of History & Industry at tonight’s Gala. (The napkins will hang in the museum for several weeks, and tonight’s Gala guests also will be able to see last year’s creations in a special upstairs gallery).

It took Grayl six hours to conceptualize the napkin, and another six for visual artist Christopher Leiter to bring it to life. Leiter used acrylic paint and paint pens, with the first design concepts in black and white. The video was produced by Stickeen.

This marks the second year for The Seattle 10, conducted in partnership with MOHAI and the Bezos Center for Innovation.

See everyone tonight at the Gala, and looking forward to checking out the other nine cocktail napkins. The bar is set pretty high with this one!

Editor’s note: The GeekWire Gala is sold out, but we have opened a limited number of tickets to the after-party, which is taking place at the Forum night club at 9 p.m. Go here for more details. If you are attending the Gala, please read this FAQ. Make sure to arrive early, as we have a big crowd coming and South Lake Union is mess right now for traffic.
