Developers who want to make sure that their iPhone apps will work with Apple’s upcoming smartwatch will soon have their chance. Apple CEO Tim Cook said at the company’s press event today that WatchKit, the software development kit for the Apple Watch, will be available in November.

That’s good news for third-party app makers: Apple has been working with selected partners to ensure that there are a variety of apps available at launch, but the launch of WatchKit means that independent developers will be ready to roll in time to have their apps ready for launch.

There’s still no word about the launch date for the company’s hotly-anticipated smartwatch, or more detailed pricing data, however.
