moment-lenses11Earlier this week, we told you the story about Moment, the new hardware upstart from Contour founder Marc Barros that’s attempting to bring great photography to smartphones through mini lenses that attach to the back of devices.

Well, things have started quite well for Barros and crew. The company easily eclipsed its $50,000 goal on Kickstarter, and in fact just topped $105,000. Now, here’s the crazy thing. There’s still 28 days to go in the fundraising campaign.

“We were actually nervous before the Kickstarter campaign launched,” Barros writes in a message. “Even though we spent five months talking to dozens of picture takers as part of this project, we still had no idea what the response would be.”

Moment is prototyping two lenses — a wide 18 millimeter lens and a 60 millimeter telephoto lens — that attach seamlessly to the iPhone and Galaxy Nexus line. It will compete with OlloClip, which sells a family of lenses that attach to iPhones.

“We started this brand, Moment, because we just love to take pictures,” Barros told us earlier this week.
