Shippable announced that it is releasing version 2.0 of its product, which is designed to make it easy for developers to quickly build and test software. Using Docker containers, each developer on a team using Shippable’s platform can have their own virtualized environment that spins up on demand to test their code changes before pushing them out to a group repository. It’s designed to accelerate teams’ development while also reducing a company’s cloud footprint.

Companies interested in trying the solution out for themselves can purchase a hosted service in which Shippable orchestrates the system and hosts the containers, or a dedicated host service that puts the containers on users’ local systems but relies on Shippable to handle the orchestration. The company said that an on-premise, self-hosted solution will be coming in the fourth quarter of this year.
