The City of Seattle has named Sabra Schneider, who previously served as the City’s Director of Electronic Communications, as its Interim Chief Technology Officer. Schneider will head up the city’s Department of Information and Technology, replacing Erin Devoto, who resigned last month.
Schneider has already spent nearly a decade helping bolster the City’s tech offerings. In her last position, Schneider spent the past three years managing the 48-person citywide web team, where she helped launch projects like the first-ever Startup Weekend Government Edition, the Evergreen Apps Challenge and the City’s mobile website.
Prior to that, Schneider was the Webmaster for King County, where she spent five years launching the county’s social media program and coordinating other online communications.
Schneider graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Communications, and earned her Masters in Public Administration from the University of Washington six years ago.
Schneider’s role, which is temporary for now, requires management oversight of nearly 200 employees and an annual operating budget of more than $79 million. The position is classified by the City as “Executive 4,” with salary ranging between $127,932 to $211,076.
