Good times on the rooftop as more than 500 soccer geeks show up for Sounder Day
Good times on the rooftop with 450 soccer geeks at Sounders Day

Wow, what happened to the summer? It’s already Labor Day, and the dog days of summer have simply slipped away.

One of the reasons why things moved particularly fast this year was an intense flow of news — from Zillow announcing its intentions to buy Trulia for $3.5 billion to Steve Ballmer stepping down from the Microsoft board to Sprint dropping its bid for T-Mobile.

But it wasn’t just hard news. We had some fun along the way too, including the rockin’ rooftop party at EMC/Isilon before a Sounders match and some lively conversations on the GeekWire podcast and radio show.

geekwiresummitlogo444We’ve also been working incredibly hard on the GeekWire Summit, our biggest content-oriented event of the year which is coming up on Oct. 2. We’ve got an awesome lineup of speakers, including author and drone entrepreneur Chris Anderson; Zulily co-founder Mark Vadon; Postmates CEO Bastian Lehmann; venture capitalist Julie Sandler; tech journalists Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher; and many more. Details and tickets here.

Now, without further ado, here’s a look back at the top stories for the month of August. Thanks to everyone for reading, and see everyone at the Summit.
