uberkings_websiteThe Sacramento Kings might be the NBA’s most geeky franchise.

Earlier this year, the Kings became the first pro sports franchise to accept Bitcoin. Today, the team announced that it is partnering with Uber to integrate the company’s API into its own mobile app for fans.

The Kings will feature Uber inside its app in the “Going to the Game” or “Transportation” section in time for this season’s first home game against Golden State. Uber will also be featuring a Kings-branded icon in its own app for users in Sacramento that makes it easy to request a ride to Sleep Train Arena on game days.

This is the first time a pro sports franchise has integrated Uber into a mobile app. The Kings have been making a push to use more new technology ever since TIBCO CEO and current majority owner Vivek Ranadive bought the team last year — just as it was on the verge of moving to Seattle.
