eviteRPIRPI, the Seattle-based maker of on-demand printed material, announced today a new printing partnership with Evite, a leading digital card company.

evite2The two companies are teaming up for something called Evite Ink, an invitation platform that merges both the physical and online worlds. Users can choose a custom invitation for $2, and Evite — with help from RPI — sends physical cards to each address.

Recipients can then use a code on their card to RSVP online. Rick Bellamy, CEO of RPI, noted in a press release that there’s still inherent value in a physical piece of paper rather then just receiving an electronic invitation.

“Digital invitations are incredible tools for spreading the word fast and efficiently, but sometimes can get lost in the barrage of digital information coming at us every day,” Bellamy said. “A beautiful printed invitation has high impact and makes the recipient feel special.”

It’s a significant partnership for RPI, as Los Angeles-based Evite has more than 32 million registered users and its platform helps people send 28,000 invitations every hour. This is Evite’s first online-offline service offering.

In addition to cards and photo books, RPI also prints several other products from marketing material to posters. The company was founded in Seattle in 1979.
