techfestnw12Portland is full of fast-growing startups — some that have already been swooped up by tech giants, others that are well on their way to huge success, and several more up-and-comers.

“If you are a software engineer graduating from college right now, there is no better city you can move to than Portland,” Elemental CEO Sam Blackman, who won GeekWire’s CEO of the Year award in 2013, told us last year.

That’s why we can’t wait to meet some of Portland’s techies on Thursday evening in the Pearl District. We’ll be rolling into the Rose City for TechFestNW. But before we hear from the conference speakers, Team GeekWire will be hosting the after party for the PDX TechCrawl 2014 on Thursday night.

Make sure to sign up for the crawl here, which kicks off at the Block 300 building at 5:15 p.m.

We’re excited to be back for this fun event, touring some of the city’s hottest startups, like Puppet Labs, Urban Airship, and CrowdCompass. For the final pit stop of the crawl, team GeekWire will host an after-party on the outdoor patio of the On Deck Sports Bar & Grill (910 NW 14th Avenue).

On Deck is located at the corner of NW 14th and Kearney St. in the Pearl District. Join us at 8 p.m. for the Tech Crawl after party.

In fact, we hope you come thirsty because we’ll be buying the first round, thanks to GeekWire annual sponsors Filter and Frontier Communications. We’ll get things rolling on the outdoor patio at 8 p.m. at On Deck, raffling off tickets to the upcoming GeekWire Summit. An iPad also will be up for grabs, as well as tickets to TechFestNW and MusicFestNW.

No need to register for our impromptu meetup at On Deck. Just pop by the bar between 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. after the crawl, and ask for the GeekWire party.

Don’t miss this fun event, and make sure to come say hello to the GeekWire team, and tell us why you think your startup is going to take over the world.

If you can’t join us Thursday night, make sure to grab tickets for the GeekWire Summit, taking place Oct. 2 at the Westin Seattle. Early-bird rates end later this month for our biggest event of the year, featuring speakers such as Zulily co-founder Mark Vadon; drone entrepreneur, former Wired editor and author of the “The Long Tail” Chris Anderson; Wal-Mart e-commerce CEO Neil Ashe; tech journalists Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher and many more.
