Halo-5-Guardians-Multiplayer-Beta-Truth-Mantle-Up2

How much of a “Halo” fan are you? Here’s a good litmus test.

halo5Microsoft is launching pre-orders for “Halo 5: Guardians” today — unveiling pricing that starts at $59.99 for the standard version of the game, and goes up to $249.99 for a Limited Collector’s Edition that comes with a “commemorative numbered statue” designed by 343 Industries, the Microsoft studio responsible for the blockbuster franchise.

People who buy the Limited Collector’s Edition also get a Halo poster that comes with the standard game, plus extra digital content and “exclusive items wrapped in a uniquely designed steel book,” which are also available in a $99.99 Limited Edition.

But Microsoft is also asking people to take a leap of faith if they pre-order the Limited Collector’s Edition, saying that more details on the design of the statue will be shared “at a later date.”

The launch of pre-orders coincides with the debut today of the Halo 5 multiplayer beta for Xbox One. It’s available through Jan. 18 to people who own Halo: The Master Chief Collection, the compilation of Halo games that launched this year.

Halo 5, launching in the fall of 2015, is exclusive to Xbox One, which promises more Xbox 360 owners to upgrade to the latest Microsoft console.
