microsoftventures111Microsoft Ventures just opened applications for a new startup accelerator in Seattle focused on “digital work,” aiming to boost startups that want to make people more productive.

According to a blog post announcing the new class, Microsoft is interested in accelerating “startups building scalable productivity applications, cloud-centric software platforms and enterprise-grade solutions to help people get more done.”

Registration for the cohort will close on Jan. 30, and the accelerator class will start on March 15. The program will run for four months, until the demo day on July 16. Microsoft won’t be taking any equity in the companies that pass through the accelerator.

Microsoft Ventures says 80 percent of the firms that have graduated from the accelerator have received an average of $1.9 million in funding.

The news comes as Microsoft Ventures’s latest startup cohort wraps up. The company’s home automation accelerator, which it runs in partnership with American Family Insurance, will be holding a demo day in Seattle today at 4:30 p.m. People interested in seeing the startups can watch a live stream here.
