Microsoft this morning released new details of the first major system update for the Xbox One console. In a bit of a teaser, the company also told Xbox One users that the Feb. 11 includes “several surprises in store that we think you’ll love.”
Here’s what we know is coming, as outlined in this post by Microsoft exec Marc Whitten.
- General improvements in system stability and Kinect voice commands.
- Gamers will be able to see and manage their storage space, control their installation lineup, and determine which games download first when they’ve got more than one in their queue.
- The on-screen battery power indicator, familiar to Xbox 360 users, is coming to the Xbox One home screen — letting gamers see know the status of the batteries in their controller, and whether they’re almost out of juice.
- Microsoft says Xbox One users will also be able to use a USB keyboard with their Xbox One.
The company is also looking ahead to the March 4 update, which will prepare the console for the new features of Titanfall, the team-based online multiplayer game that is due for release on March 11. Microsoft is touting this as “the must-have game for this generation.”
