LG shows off its curved smartphone at CES in Las Vegas earlier this month.

The Bellevue-based mobile carrier announced today that it will offer LG’s G Flex — the world’s first curved smartphone — to customers starting Feb. 5 for $0 down and 24 monthly payments of $28. In addition, those who buy a G Flex will also receive six months of Netflix for free. You can pre-order the device today.

We actually had a chance to check out the G Flex at the big Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this month, and I actually didn’t come away that impressed with the idea of curved smartphones — certainly not at the current price point.

An LG rep at the company’s booth showed off some of the G Flex’s features, which include a more “immersive” viewing experience for watching media. Other benefits she touched on were the “ergonomic” feel in the hand and what the LG rep called “pocket-ability” — which, I guess, means it fits better in your back pocket.

The smartphone did fit nice in my hand. In addition, when I put it to my ear, the mouthpiece was a tad closer to my mouth, which is intended to create better call quality. But the incremental benefits aren’t enough for me to throw down $672 for the device.

LG is bringing the G Flex to Sprint later this month and to AT&T at some point this year. T-Mobile will also offer LG’s Optimus F3Q to customers on Feb. 5 for $0 down with 24 equal monthly device payments of $13.
