GW calendar logoSan Francisco’s largest week-long tech event series is coming to Seattle. DeveloperWeek Seattle brings together hundreds of developers, technology executives, and startup founders “not just to learn new skills — but to build new apps, get jobs, and connect to the Seattle tech scene,” according to the event organizers.

The week will kick off Friday July 25 with a special Startup Weekend focused on mobile technologies and wearables. The days following Startup Weekend will feature hiring mixers, educational panels, and hackathons for the Seattle tech/developer community.

Attendees can look forward to keynote speaker Barry Crist, the CEO of Chef, and they’ll also hear from execs at Google, Moz, Shippable, Tune, and more.

That’s just one of our selections from the GeekWire Calendar — our curated list of the top tech events in the Pacific Northwest.

Optimizely Experience roadshow_main_v4_6-25-14_02

The key to converting customers is providing a great product and a great user experience. Often businesses are lacking in the latter. Entrepreneurs and members of the Seattle tech community are invited to spend an afternoon learning from experts on experience optimization. Attendees will hear from the CEO of Qualaroo, the Global Online Marketing Manager at Microsoft, and the president of Optimizely. The afternoon will culminate in a networking reception. Register for free here.

When & Where: July 29, 2:00pm – 6:30pm. EMP.

Google Cloud Platform Roadshowgoogle cloud

Google Cloud Platform has been making headlines, competing against the likes of Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. Now Seattle developers and techies have the opportunity to see first hand what the platform is all about. The Google Cloud team “will be providing a technical, demo-based introduction” and attendees will get the opportunity to “meet the Googlers who build the services you know and love.”

Attendees can register for this free event here.

When & Where: July 30, 1:00pm – 6:00pm. Google Seattle.

Seattle Sports Tech Meetup

IdealSeat at game

It’s an exciting time for Seattle sports. The Seahawks won their first Super Bowl championship, The Mariners are playing better than they have in years, and the Sounders’ Clint Dempsey just returned from Brazil where he competed in the World Cup on the U.S. national team.

Given all this newfound success, there’s never been a better time for a Seattle Sports Tech Meetup to launch.

The guest speaker at the Sports Tech inaugural meeting will be GeekWire’s own Taylor Soper. As a reporter for GeekWire with a history in sports journalism, he can certainly speak with authority on the subject. RSVP for free here.

When & Where: July 30, 5:00pm – 8:00pm. Dice Cabana at SURF Incubator.

And if you’re a sports fan and Seattle techie, be sure to check out the geekiest rooftop tailgate party in soccer: Tickets available now for Geekwire Sounders Day on Aug. 20.
