Football season is officially back, and last night’s Seahawks victory over the Packers certainly got Seattle pumped up.
But the Seahawks franchise isn’t the only Seattle team garnering attention. This season, the Mariners have their first real shot at the playoffs in years.
In honor of the mounting success of these franchises, The Puget Sound American Marketing Associating (PSAMA) is hosting a luncheon with the Seahawks’ managing director of marketing and brand strategy, Jeff Richards, and the Mariners’ senior director of marketing, Gregg Greene. Groundswell Marketing will offer an inside look at how the two teams promote their brands and manage setbacks.
“Sports marketing has many unique challenges,” PSAMA organizers explain, “but the principles of managing brand expectations, building and maintaining a consistent brand presentation, and using multiple channels to build your brand can provide lessons we can all benefit from.”
The luncheon will be held at the Washington Athletic Club on Sept. 9 at 11:30am. Tickets range from $20-$150 and are available for purchase here.

The Big Melt Grilled Cheese Festival
This weekend Fork, a startup and app that lets users share, find, and organize food ideas with friends, is throwing Seattle’s first Grilled Cheese Festival. Professional chefs and amateurs will compete for the bragging rights of the Pacific Northwest’s best grilled cheese sandwich. Attendees will get to sample the faire which will be served with craft brews, local wines, and other snacks. Tickets are available for $29 here.

New Tech Seattle

Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Hackathon
“The AEC community faces fresh new problems that urgently need brilliant minds to solve them.” That’s the driving philosophy behind the upcoming AEC hackathon at the University of Washington. Coders are invited to the UW Center for Construction Research to spend three days brainstorming ways to innovate in the field. This three day hackathon will culminate in presenations, awards, and an after-hack wind down party. Tickets are available here.
