frontdesk12Front Desk, the Seattle startup that helps businesses manage scheduling, payments, and other administrative tasks, has raised an additional $4 million.

This round, led by Floodgate and a few of the region’s top angel investors, follows a $1 million round this past September. Total funding for Front Desk is now $7.2 million.

The one-year-old Seattle company, led by former T-Mobile and Expedia analytics guru Jon Zimmerman, builds mobile apps that help personal service business owners manage classes, billing and payment, digital document management, payroll tracking and email marketing. The apps are designed for anyone from gym managers to music instructors and cost $45 per month or more depending on your pricing plan.

So far, Front Desk now has almost 1,000 customers in more than 20 countries. The company noted that more than 60 percent of usage is on mobile.

Zimmerman came up with the idea for Front Desk after encountering paperwork challenges at the Crossfit gym that he co-owns in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood. Other members of the team include veterans of Expedia, Avvo and Trover — all companies affiliated with angel investor and Zillow co-founder Rich Barton.

In addition to today’s funding news, Front Desk announced that Mike Maples, Jr. of Floodgate and Boris Wertz of Version One Ventures have joined the Front Desk Board of Directors.
