xboxliveIf you own an Xbox 360 but haven’t bought an Xbox Live subscription, Microsoft is offering up a free limited time subscription for this weekend only.

Starting at 12:01 a.m. PT this Friday and running through 11:59 p.m. PT Sunday, all Xbox 360 owners in the U.S. and Canada can access Xbox Live benefits like entertainment apps and multiplayer gaming for free. Microsoft ran a similar promotion last April.

Unfortunately for Xbox One owners, this offer only applies to Xbox 360 devices. In a statement, a Microsoft spokesperson said that “we’ll have more to share in the future for similar offers for Xbox One.” Meanwhile, Xbox One owners will have to wait for the console’s first big system update, which has been delayed after an expected arrival on Tuesday.

The free Xbox Live promotion comes just as the team-based World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition became available globally — the game requires an Xbox Live Gold membership to play.

If you’re interested in purchasing a 12-month Xbox Live subscription, Microsoft is actually offering 33-percent off the normal $59.99 price right now.
