Too cruel to swallow.
That’s the message from a handful of animal rights activists standing outside of Amazon’s annual shareholder meeting this morning in Seattle.
“Jeff Bezos: Please Protect Animals,” the signs read. “Ban Foie Gras.”
Foie Gras is controversial due to the manner by which some duck and geese are force fed in order to fatten their livers. Amazon currently has 20 pages worth of foie gras products, ranging from frozen foie gras to foie gras bubble gum.
GeekWire’s Todd Bishop ran into a bevy of other protestors — from security workers demanding better wages to a Boy Scout angry about Amazon Smile practices — trying to deliver their own messages this morning outside the Seattle Repertory Theatre:

We’ll have more from the shareholder meeting today on GeekWire, so stay tuned.
Update, 10:30 a.m.
Bezos was asked about the foie gras issue during the meeting. “It’s an active issue and one that we’re looking at,” he said.
He declined to address a shareholder question about Amazon Smile’s funding of the Boy Scouts of America.
“These are issues that are complicated, and we’ll continue to look at them,” he said.
