tumblr_inline_ngqgwiPO2f1t2hff2Rooms, the iPhone app from Facebook that lets users of the social network chat anonymously with other people who share their interests, received a new update today that makes it easier for people to find chatrooms they’re interested in.

The new “Explore” tab gives users recommendations of a few select rooms they might like to check out, along with a short description of what they’re used for. It’s a move that should help attract new users to the service. Prior to this addition, users could pick out rooms from a set of suggestions laid out in the app when they signed up, but otherwise would have to find codes for other spaces out in the wild.

The feature stops short of a full search bar, so users won’t be able to find whatever they’re looking for, in the event they’re on the hunt for something off-beat.

Facebook’s continued improvement of Rooms is interesting, since the app isn’t operating at the scale of the company’s main product, or even Instagram, which announced earlier this month that it has 300 million monthly active users.

Josh Miller, the product manager in charge of Rooms, told Re/code that he hopes the app will have 100 “really active rooms” by the first anniversary of the app’s launch.
