Car2go reached the 1 million member milestone on Wednesday.

The transportation company now operates more than 12,000 vehicles in 60 cities worldwide, including Seattle, which is Car2go’s largest market in the U.S. with more than 59,000 registered members. The service launched in the Emerald City in early 2013 and hit the 40,000 mark in January. There are 500 vehicles in Seattle.

Car2go lets people to use an app to locate a tiny smart-car, drive for an unlimited amount of time at a rate of 41 cents per minute, $14.99 per hour or $84.99 per day (in Seattle), and then park in an approved city street parking spot anywhere in a designated “home area.”

Last month, Car2go updated its app with “Mobile Access,” which lets customers access a car2go vehicle and start driving with a few taps on their smartphones. Previously, car2go’s app only allowed for the searching and booking of a vehicle — members had to use an actual card to unlock a car.

Car2go was founded in 2008 and is a subsidiary of Daimler AG. The service, which is available in eight countries, has provided more than 32 million rides with an average ride time of 19-to-25 minutes.
