The Seattle mobile gaming company, which earlier this month switched its name to Z2, just released a multiplayer car racing game called Nitro. In the game, participants can choose from one of 16 vehicles and race in real time against as many as five other players.

Z2 has already met with success with some of its titles for iOS, including Battle Nations, Trade Nations and MetalStorm. Those games have been played by 50 million players in the past four years, with Z2 largely going after the young male gamer with its titles.

Nitro also marks the first title developed by the company’s newly-acquired Vancouver, B.C.-based studio.

Z2, which is led by Lou Fasulo, employs more than 150 people. It is backed by Madrona Venture Group, Draper Fisher Jurvetson and others.

Here’s the official trailer for the new game, which like the company’s other titles is free to play. Z2 makes its money through in-app purchases.
