Spotify, the popular streaming music service, was released this morning for Windows Phone 8, adding an important music app to Microsoft’s mobile lineup. Spotify was previously available for Windows Phone 7 but hadn’t been issued for Windows Phone 8.

The download is free but the mobile version of the service requires a Spotify Premium account, which costs $9.99 but is available as a 30-day trial.

Spotify for Windows Phone 8 is available for download here.

So where’s Pandora? Microsoft announced in October that Pandora would be released in early 2013, with a year’s worth of ad-free music, courtesy of Microsoft, but that music radio app hasn’t yet made its way to the Windows Phone store.
