For those that have Sony smartphones and tablets, playing WildTangent games just got easier.

Redmond-based WildTangent is expanding its partnership with Sony Mobile Communications to allow owners of Sony’s new flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z, to have access to the WildTangent mobile games service via the Sony Select discovery gaming app.

“Sony knows gamers better than anyone and this partnership marks a significant new chapter for us,” Sean Vanderdasson, WildTangent senior vice president, said in a press release. “Our games will now be available to a huge number of people on premium Sony devices.”

The WildTangent mobile games service is essentially an Android app that helps non-Wild Tangent developers distribute their games. However, it’s not available at any app store — to install the “app,” users must go to WildTangent.com, click “Get the App” and then check the Download section of the device.

But the service will be embedded right into Sony’s Select app, which lets users access, buy and rent games. The Xperia Z just debuted in Japan and will be available to everyone else by March. Sony and WildTangent have been partners since 2011.

WildTangent, ranked 15th in our GeekWire 200 Startup List, already has partnerships with T-Mobile and Sprint, with more to come in the future.

WildTangent announced its first mobile gamePolar Bowler 1st Frame, on Jan. 23. It’s the mobile version of the classic PC game that debuted in 2004 and features a polar bear wearing sunglasses with a Hawaiian shirt soaring through an icy bowling alley.
