VloggerFair, the come-one, come-all festival of vlogs and vlogging, kicked off its inaugural run at the enormous Terminal 5 building in West Seattle this weekend.
Could anyone across the bridge hear the screaming teens?
“He signed my iPad,” one middle schooler said after she met one of the day’s biggest draws, vlogger Joey Graceffa. “I freaked out.”
A mixed group circled the venue on the event’s first day — vloggers big and small, writers and content managers interested in video and gadget and media techies curious to see what all the fuss is about.
But by far the most enthusiastic attendees were the hundreds of teens who lined up to meet their favorite vloggers.
An entourage of starstruck fans followed iJustine, Shay Carl and popular Seattle vlogger Judy Travis around the venue. When Graceffa walked onto the floor from behind curtains Saturday morning, teen girls wailed.

I talked with Seattle vloggers Andru Edwards and Judy Travis, plus event founder Chris Pirillo, KING 5 Evening Magazine’s Saint Bryan, former CNN anchor Renay San Miguel, REI social media manager Paolo Mottola, a gaggle of girls and an chaperoning mom to find out.

VloggerFair is Pirillo’s first large-scale event since the long-running Gnomedex conference ended its run a couple years ago. (Hear Pirillo talk vlogging on this week’s episode of the GeekWire podcast.) The event sold out at 1,250 tickets and continues through noon today.

Edwards, one of the event’s featured vloggers, had a great tip on how to vlog.
“Be yourself,” he said, “but turn yourself up to 11.”
