Portland-based startup Brandlive, a new video social commerce platform designed to help make the retailer-customer relationship more personal, just cleaned house at the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network’s Angel Oregon 2013.
The startup not only won the angel investment prize of $260,000, but also walked away with the Audience Favorite Award among the “Launch Stage” companies that presented Wednesday.
HoneyComb Corporation, a maker of unmanned aircraft to monitor crops, was voted Audience Favorite from among the “Concept Stage” companies.
Brandlive is a project of Cascade Web Development and connects online retailers with online shoppers through live video chat. One sales person is able to communicate with hundreds of customers at once.
The five-employee startup, which was founded in July 2010, recently raised $200,000 from the Portland Seed Fund, and works with well-known retailers such as FoodSaver, Dockers, Keen and Ball Canning.
GeekWire had the chance to catch up with Fritz Brumder, Brandlive’s 34-year-old CEO, for an installment of Startup Spotlight two months ago.
