android_discoverUrbanspoon has updated its Android app with a different look and new features, including an upgraded search engine to help users quickly find the best places to eat in a particular neighborhood.

They include filters for finding restaurants with specific characteristics, such as a kid-friendly Thai place with free wireless access. There’s also a feature called “Closest,” which does exactly what you might imagine — showing the nearest restaurant to your current location.

And there’s a “Discover” feature that highlights favorite restaurants and suggested eateries, bringing the Android app on more on par with Urbanspoon’s flagship iPhone app.

Urbanspoon, headquartered in Seattle, is part of IAC. The updated Android app is available for download here.
