logo-charcoalHave you ever wanted to grab an Uber with one of your friends, but then got frustrated by how you could go about sharing the bill? Thanks to a new update to the Uber app, that frustration should be over.

According to a report by Brian X. Chen at the New York Times, Uber users can now share the cost of a ride through the popular ride-sharing service with other contacts in their phone.

Once you confirm a ride in the app, you can tap an arrow next to the driver’s information, then hit the “split fare” option. Uber will show you your contacts, and then you select one to share a ride with. They’ll get a text message with a link that they can click to authorize the split.

This is a major advantage for Uber in the ridesharing space, since neither Lyft nor SideCar currently offer that functionality.
