A Super couple from the Emerald City Comicon in Seattle earlier this year.

From the folks who put together the slightly-questionable top-10 city list for gamers, we’ve got a brand new list today out that focuses on overall nerdy-ness.

Randy Nelson from Motovo, a San Francisco-based real estate content website, put in some work and analyzed things like people per comic book store, people per science museum, people per computer store and distance to the nearest Renaissance faire (yes, really).

Based on that criteria, Seattle finished in third place behind Atlanta and Portland. The Emerald City finished second in bookstore rankings and third for annual sci-fi/fantasy conventions, but couldn’t reach the top spot.

Top ten here:

  1. Atlanta, GA
  2. Portland, OR
  3. Seattle, WA
  4. Sacramento, CA
  5. Minneapolis, MN
  6. Boston, MA
  7. Las Vegas, NV
  8. Miami, FL
  9. San Jose, CA
  10. Denver, CO

“It’s pretty clear that when nerds eventually take over the world, their new capital will be Atlanta,” writes Nelson.

So, despite our great gaming market, awesome museums and bad-ass comic convention, Seattle falls short again, apparently.

Are you OK with this list? Or do you think Nelson’s methodology is a bit off for calculating a city’s overall nerdy-ness?
