The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center has named former msnbc.com executive Jennifer Sizemore to the position of vice president of communications, a role in which she’ll oversee media, community and government relations as well as branding and marketing for the non-profit.

“There’s never been a more important time to tell the story of Fred Hutch’s incredible lifesaving research and discoveries, and Jennifer has the energy, passion and vision to ensure our communications match the high caliber of our science,” said Dr. Larry Corey, president and director of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Prior to msnbc.com, Sizemore worked as an editor at the Houston Chronicle and Seattle P-I.

Z2 Live, the Seattle mobile gaming startup, has changed its name to Z2 and named Glen Pryer as vice president of operations; Adam Flanders as senior vice president of sales and marketing; and Shanis Windland as senior director of finance. Pryer is the former director of global planning at Blizzard Entertainment and vice president at 38 Studios, while Flanders previously worked with Glu Mobile and THQ Mobile. Windland joins from Seattle’s Big Fish Games. “Our new name reflects our shift from creating a game platform to developing and publishing some of the industry’s deepest and most engaging mobile titles,” said CEO Lou Fasulo in a release.

UC4 Software has named Craig Beddis as its new Chief Marketing Officer. Beddis, who had led the company northern Europe and APAC regions, is a veteran of BMC Software, Citrix, Netscaler, Iona and WebPerform Group/Gomez.  “Automation is now a critical enabler and differentiator for enterprises as they look to build new service offerings and revenue opportunities in the digital age,” said Beddis in a release. He replaces Randy Clark, who left the company to join payment processing company Mercury.

Richard Hearney will not stand for re-election to the board of Blucora, the Bellevue Internet search and online tax preparation company.  Hearney, a retired United States Marine Corps fourstar general, has declined to stand for re-election for personal reasons.
