Blake Cahill

Blake Cahill has stepped down as president of Seattle social media agency Banyan Branch to take a new job at Royal Philips. Cahill is relocating to the Netherlands where Royal Philips is based. In the new role as global head of digital and social marketing, Cahill will lead digital and social initiatives across the company. He previously served as vice president of marketing at Visible Technologies and SafeHarbor.

Seattle mayor Mike McGinn has appointed Erin Devoto as director of the department of technology. Devoto had served as acting director of the department since 2012, and has been with the department since 2007. Most recently Devoto served as the lead advisor on the city’s next-generation fiber-optic broadband network.  The appointment is subject to the approval of the city council. “Erin has successfully advanced our broadband initiative by thinking creatively and forging new partnerships in both the public and private sectors,” said McGinn.

Steve Neuman

Seattle startup Yabbly has named Steven Neuman, formerly of Ubermind, as its  founding lead UX designer. “Landing an experienced consumer mobile app designer these days ain’t easy so we’re thrilled he’s joining Ian and me in our quest to help the world make awesome shopping decisions,” said co-founder Tom Leung. Trevor Hall has been named president and CEO of WealthVisor.com, a Seattle startup whose founder, Chip Treverton, passed away last year following a rare appendiceal cancer. “The past year has been a trying one both on a personal and organizational level,” Hall writes in a blog post. WealthVisor has developed an online service designed to help people get professional tax, financial and insurance advice. 

Yusuf Nahmiyas has been named executive vice president of corporate development at Airbiquity, responsible for strategic growth of the company’s business. He most recently worked as an investment banker.

Red Russak

StartupSeattle founder and former GeekWire community manager Red Russak has taken on a sales role at Apptentive, a recent TechStars Seattle graduate that’s developing new ways for mobile app developers to interact and communicate with users directly from within apps. Google Ventures last month invested in Apptentive, bringing total funding in the company to $1.2 million. Apptentive founder Robi Ganguly said they were impressed with Russak’s  enthusiasm, energy and passion for the Seattle community. 

“Red has understood what we’ve been working on since the early days,” said Ganguly. “He’s referred customers, partners and events to us on a regular basis and felt like an extension of the team, in many ways…. We’re really excited to have Red join as our first full-time sales professional. We know his passion and heart will help us tell our story and really grow our business and we know that his passion for relationships will mesh well with our company’s approach to sales.”
