Backup-Final1_4A4F08B3Microsoft’s SkyDrive app for iOS got a snazzy redesign this morning, complete with a new look that now brings the app in line with the design of iOS 7, Apple’s latest mobile operating system for iPhones and iPads.

The app also got the ability to automatically upload photos from your camera roll straight to Microsoft’s storage service. It’s something that SkyDrive for Windows Phone has had since its launch, and competitors to the service like Dropbox and Google Drive have already started to offer similar functionality on iOS. One of the interesting features of Microsoft’s particular take on camera backup is the ability to upload a downsampled version of the images on a user’s phone, so they don’t take up as much space in that person’s SkyDrive account.

It also boasts better integration with Office Mobile on iPhone, and allows users to preview Office documents within SkyDrive, before sending them out to the Office Mobile app for editing. That integration is important, since Apple continues to push its iWork suite of productivity tools for the iPhone and iPad.

The new SkyDrive app for iOS is available from the App Store. For a demo of the new features, check out the video below.
