Tony Dowler.

Ever wondered what Seattle would look like if the Apocalypse happened and zombies took over the town? Thanks to a years worth of work from local artist Tony Dowler, now you can.

Dowler just completed an incredibly successful Kickstarter campaign to help share a huge map of post-Apocalyptic Seattle, surpassing his $1,500 goal by nearly $17,000 from 609 backers.

Using Google Maps as a guide, Dowler spent the past year waking up at 6 a.m. three days week to paint an extremely detailed watercolor map of Seattle ravaged by zombies.

Dowler used watercolors for the initial layer to mark out detailed neighborhoods, roads, areas of vegetation, and ruins. Then he added shadows and major features before finishing off the piece with ink.

Dowler also created a folded roadmap, as well as a survival guide to the world of post-Apocalyptic Seattle, just in case it actually happens. The map “provides valuable information,” Dowler writes. “You can find out the location of the radiation leak in Sodo, who sells fresh produce in Belltown, and what’s the worst threat to your safety in Cal Anderson Park.”

The Kickstarter money will be used to print all the maps and for additional copies to offer for sale. “Any profits I make from this project will enable me to devote even more time to creating more artwork in this vein in the future,” Dowler writes.
