Cash and credit cards are so last year.
Kirkland-based Viableware today announced a partnership with PayPal, allowing customers to make purchases with PayPal at restaurants using the company’s handheld payment device.
Viableware’s RAIL payment touchscreen interface, as seen to the right, mimics a traditional leather folder for restaurant bills. It allows guests to peruse a digital copy of the bill, calculate tips, split the bill, answer survey questions and then “self swipe” credit cards at the table. Customers use a stylus to sign the digital screen, and can choose to have a copy of the receipt printed off at the restaurant or emailed to their personal accounts.
Now, PayPal payments will be accepted on RAIL. Tableau, a new Dickie Brennan restaurant in New Orleans, will be the first eatery to test the new feature.
Viableware reeled in $6.5 million in series B funding from Swiftsure Capital and others this past summer. Total funding now stands at $7.45 million.
