officeremote1Microsoft Research today debuted a new tool called Office Remote that lets you control Office apps like Word, Excel and Powerpoint with a Windows Phone.

It’s ideal for those using Microsoft Office 2013 and Office 365 documents during a presentation or meeting. Office Remote allows you to advance PowerPoint slides and see speaker notes, navigate through an Excel spreadsheet and scroll up and down with a Word doc — all with your Windows Phone 8 device.

Both Microsoft Research and the Office team worked together on Office Remote. The collaboration, as Microsoft Research described in a blog post today, is “intended to enable more natural, seamless interaction across multiple screens and devices to help people create and communicate content more effectively.”

You can download the app here, and get the associated desktop client here. You’ll also need a Bluetooth-enabled PC.

Office Remote works with all versions of Office 2013 except Office 2013 RT.
