It looks like Nokia wants to make sure that its new Windows-powered tablet doesn’t go the way of the Surface RT.
The company announced a promotion today that offers buyers of the new Lumia 2520 tablet a free Power Keyboard, an accessory that gives the 2520 a hardware keyboard as well as an external battery that provides an additional 5 hours of use.
The Power Keyboard usually retails for $149, but it seems that Nokia wants to provide a strong reason for consumers shopping around Black Friday to pick the 2520 up over the Surface 2, which costs $499 without a cellular contract, $50 more than the Surface 2. It’s likely that most of that price difference comes the Nokia tablet’s LTE modem.
The offer only applies to purchases made through December 2, and buyers must submit this form by January 31. They won’t get to reap the benefits of the Power Keyboard immediately, though. Nokia says that users should be prepared to wait up to 6 weeks for their Power Keyboard to arrive.
