Seattle startup Mindbloom has hired Travis McElfresh as chief technology officer and vice president of product development and engineering, a key addition to the maker of personal improvement applications like Life Game, Bloom and JUICE. In the role, McElfresh will be charged with developing new interactive health applications that are designed “to inspire people to live healthier lives.”
McElfresh is an industry veteran in the Seattle area, having previously served as CTO at InfoSpace (now Blucora). He also worked at msnbc.com for a number of years, serving as vice president of technology during the joint venture between NBC and Microsoft. And he worked on Microsoft’s Xbox, serving as lead program manager and group manager.
“Mindbloom is on the cutting edge of helping a very large, and rapidly growing, segment of Gen X and Y consumers who have grown up with games as entertainment, and are now embracing technology to further develop their health, relationships, careers, and finances,” said McElfresh. “It’s an amazing time to join the company and I look forward to helping the team find even more innovative ways to leverage the power of technology, social networks, and the science of games to create powerful and engaging products that facilitate people’s desire to improve all aspects of their whole life.”
Mindbloom, which is led by former Monolith producer Chris Hewett, has already attracted more than 64,000 downloads for its 3-month-old energy-tracking app, JUICE.
