This just in: Microsoft announced at the CES that the company has sold 60 million Windows 8 licenses.
Windows CMO/CFO Tami Reller made the announcement from Las Vegas, and the Microsoft blog post notes that the 60 million number “continues to be in line with Windows 7 and represents the cumulative sales of Windows 8 including both upgrades and sales to OEMs for new devices.”
There are also now more than 1,700 certified systems for Windows 8 and Windows RT.
On November 27, Microsoft said it had sold 40 million Windows 8 licenses since the Oct. 26 launch of the new operating system.
