The top ten from Yabbly founder Tom Leung

Look around your house, garage and shed, and find the 10 products that you absolutely love. A laptop? A car? A blender?

Now, think about showcasing those products to the world. That’s the idea behind a new offering from Yabbly, the Seattle startup company led by former Google employee Tom Leung.

Yabbly is already trying to help consumers wade through the mountains of product data on the Web, tapping into friends and colleagues for product recommendations. Now, with Yabbly Tens — the name of the new service — one can simply show off what products you love to use around the house or office.

“It’s kind of like a micro-Pinterest focused on 10 products you actually own versus hundreds of pics you think look nice,” said Leung. “This is a great way to share the products you’d unconditionally recommend as well as help other Yabblers get to know you better.”

I also asked Leung about competition, and here’s what he had to say.

“There’s a whole raft of Pinterest clones with buy buttons out there, but our view is this is more of a feature than a business,” he said. “We think combining Tens with our flagship shopping Q&A community is a much more robust and interesting strategy.”

Yabbly raised $500,000 earlier this year from angel investor Rudy Gadre; former Qpass CEO Chase Franklin; Nike Vice president Dave Song; former Twango CEO Serena Glover; Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and others. Total funding stands at $1.3 million.
