Having trouble finding a summer camp for your young DIY nerd? Make Magazine has you covered.
For the second year running, Make is partnering with Google to run Maker Camp, a 30-day online camp for kids who love DIY projects and learning about how things are made.
Make Magazine’s Founder and Publisher Dale Dougherty made a guest post to the Official Google Blog this morning announcing the start of this year’s camp. It’s slated to run from today until August 16.
The camp’s format is designed to mimic a summer camp, complete with field trips, projects, and counselors who will be communicating with campers through video and Google+ Hangouts.
“Each weekday morning, we’ll post a new project or activity on our Google+ page—30 things to make over six weeks. Each weekday afternoon, tune in to a live Google+ Hangout On Air to meet expert makers who create amazing things. And like last year, our Field Trip Friday Hangouts will take you to new places that few of us get to see,” Dougherty wrote about the camp’s format.
According to the post, field trips will include a visit to NASA’s Ames Research Center, and a chat with Oracle Team USA, one of the teams competing in this year’s America’s Cup sailing competition.
