For those who love talking, hearing and discussing everything about love, Amazon may have an answer.

Looking to reach out to romance novel fans and tap into its recent acquisition of social network Goodreads, Amazon Publishing today debuted a weekly romance podcast called Kindle Love Stories.

The focus is all about romance novels and will feature book excerpts and recommendations, commentary from book reviewers and interviews with authors.

The show, sponsored by Amazon’s publishing unit Montlake Romance, is designed to be interactive, as Amazon will allow listeners to participate in book discussions via Goodreads.

Hosting the podcast is Laura Roppe, an award-winning singer and author. On the inaugural show, Roppe interviews author Tracy Brogan and reads excerpt of her novel Crazy Little Thing. You can listen to the show here:

This is just another chapter in the Seattle online giant’s quest to get closer to its core customers: book lovers. You’d imagine most of the books discussed on the podcast will be available to purchase on Amazon, thus driving more people to buy books off the website.

It’s also a good example of why Amazon gobbled up Goodreads, which isn’t the company’s first acquisition of a book social network. In 2008, it bought Seattle startup Shelfari, and with the purchase of Abebooks, received a stake in LibraryThing, a social network for book lovers that now has more than 1.6 million members.
